An Advertising Accelerator for Fast-Growth Companies
Squadron Venture Media worked with Zoopla from 2010 until their successful IPO in 2014.
We pioneered a new trading model with one of the country’s largest media owners which enabled them to secure large volumes of poster inventory at affordable rates . This activity built such positive brand metrics that they subsequently became one of the UK's biggest poster advertisers and latterly branched out into TV and radio.
Zoopla is now a £1.6 billion company and Britain’s best-known property brand.
When Funding Circle decided to augment their extraordinarily successful brand by using TV advertising, they approached Squadron Venture Media with a brief to put them on air.
We worked with their marketing team to develop an advertising brief and ran a pitch for them to find the right creative agency. We then worked alongside them on the creative development process and negotiated airtime with Channel 4 Sales and Sky Media. Finally, we set up a sophisticated econometric attribution system for them to monitor the contribution of TV advertising to their key metrics.
We started working with FundingCircle when they were a team of 8. In September 2018 the company floated on the London Stock Exchange with a valuation of £1.5 billion.

Squadron started working with TransferWise after their seed funding in 2012.
Starting with just a £5,000 budget, we worked with one of our partner creative agencies to develop some early poster creative to test in London. The test was successful, and we scaled TransferWise's poster activity by negotiating innovative 'shared risk' deals with poster contractors.
In late 2014, we helped our client produce their first TV spot and negotiated airtime through Channel 4 Sales and Sky Media. We also put in place a cutting-edge econometric model to help attribute new customer acquisition back to TV activity.
Transferwise’s most recent valuation was at $1.6 billion – they now have over 600 employees and operate in 45 markets. Squadron continues to support them, particularly in the U.S and UK.

Squadron began working with mattress-in-a-box phenomenon, SIMBA, in summer 2016.
Having inherited media planning and buying from another agency, we set about improving TV performance, and achieved an 80% reduction in cost per acquisition in just 8 weeks and, ultimately, a 90% reduction. We also negotiated a cost-effective and innovative annual out-of-home deal with a major media owner to keep the brand top of mind.
Having established several sustainable acquisition channels for the brand, we helped deliver a step change in revenue trajectory - in just two years Simba has become the leading mattress in a box retailer in Europe
Squadron is now supporting SIMBA’s international growth ambitions in European and North America both as a primary planner/ buyer, but also in searching, selecting and managing a suite of best-in-class local agency partners

Adzuna is the UK’s most expansive job portal, aggregating all job vacancies across the country and making them searchable in one convenient location. They also amass a huge amount of data about jobs and salaries which they share with their users.
Adzuna's ValueMyCV tool allows anyone to upload their CV and, through the smart use of analytical algorithms, find out how much they are worth in the job market. It is this universally relevant service that we focused on when working with Adzuna to put the brand on TV for the first time.

Squadron worked with Wahanda, now Treatwell, for 5 years. We helped them develop an advertising brief and ran a pitch for them to find a creative agency that shared their vision for their brand. Wahanda's first activity was a London-wide poster campaign, negotiated by Squadron Venture Media, starting in May 2014 and running through that summer. By the end of this short period, over 50% of up-market young London women were aware of the Wahanda brand - one of the best awareness increases on a small budget ever seen.
In the last few years, we have added TV and radio to the mix and supported the business as they rebranded to Treatwell, consolidating its multiple European operations under one brand name.
